Analysis

Persona

As an enterprise software product, our main objective is to provide reliable support for our users in their work. To achieve this effectively, it is crucial to have a comprehensive understanding of their daily tasks, job responsibilities, working context, and the organizational structure of their departments. Therefore, I will conduct interviews, visit their workplaces, review their organization's processes, and talk with subject matter experts to gain a thorough understanding.

Moreover, we must consider their backgrounds and levels of education to understand their behaviors, requirements, and concerns when using our products in their particular work environments.

Task analysis

By utilizing techniques such as story mapping and use case diagrams, defining the primary goals and tasks of users, and engaging in discussions with subject matter experts, I gained a comprehensive understanding of how various departments and staff collaborate and make decisions in different scenarios. Building on this knowledge, we established connections between their tasks and our product to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to enhance their work efficiency.

Design

Design with empathy for the user's goals, usage behavior, and context of use to deliver a design that matches their expectations and enhances their work efficiency.

Key learning ☕

  1. Designing a product for professional users significantly differs from designing a product for consumers. Professionals rely on the product to effectively support their work, whereas consumers expect the product to fulfill their personal needs and preferences.
  2. When designing an app for staff, it is important to keep in mind that many of them use Android devices with limited screen sizes. Therefore, it is essential to optimize the design to be user-friendly and accommodating to the smaller screens.
  3. Sometimes, usability is more important than aesthetics. For example, in cases where a screen may contain an overwhelming amount of information, professional users require the ability to quickly and conveniently view all the information at a glance to enhance efficiency.
  4. When designing a product for a ecosystem, it is important to keep the components consistent.
